The Line Up
Tony is the bassist and main male vocalist, and has played in many bands over a music career spanning three decades. He looks after all the production aspects of Evening Star including sound, light and musical directorship - but still finds time to be a complete show-off!
His signature white Jazz bass with light-up neck has been heard in Rock, Blues, Country, Jazz and Pop outfits, performing at venues as diverse as Brighton Trades and Labour Club and Wembley Arena. Add to this his classical training as a cellist and you have a real melting pot of influences that ultimately lead to one thing - a solid and infectious groove that provides the backbone for the band's impressive live sound. Off stage Tony enjoys travelling and racing around in speedboats at every given opportunity!
Rachel is the female lead singer in the Band. She has been performing professionally from the age of fourteen both in the UK and throughout Europe. Her enthusiastic and energetic stage presence is topped only by her powerful and emotive vocal performances. She really gives it all she's got! Her genuine love of singing and performance is totally infectious, time and again rousing the audience to get up and join in the fun.
Rachel is also a trained television presenter and has worked for top ITV companies Meridian, Granada and Scottish Television. This gives her an excellent background in communications which she uses to full effect when dealing with audiences of all sizes and age ranges. Not one to stop there though, Rachel also plays acoustic guitar and alto saxophone - adding another twist to Evening Star's performances.
Gareth is a versatile and vibrant saxophonist - a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama he has already toured with the British Jazz Collective, and UK no.1 Pink Floyd tribute band "Pink Fraud". He's passionate about all things sax and, even at his tender age, has been involved in many funk, pop and jazz fusion projects.
He's played venues as diverse as Hugo's Jazz Club London to Glastonbury festival. As well as studying under many great musicians, Gareth has also had the opportunity to play alongside them. They include Ben Castle, Andrew McCormack, Phil Donkin, Henry Lowther, Steve Melling and Gary Keller. In his free time Gareth is also passionate about....... sax, sax and more sax!
Tonia is the Evening Star backing singer and dancer extraordinaire!! Her enthusiasm is totally infectious and the dance routines she does with Rachel add an incredible energy to the band's performances. She has worked as a singer and dancer throughout the UK and abroad, and really knows how to connect with an audience and get everyone in party mood. Like the other members of Evening Star, she loves all kinds of popular music and is at home in the sixties as she is with Lady GaGa or Amy Winehouse. Definitely NOT to be missed!
Steve is an experienced and versatile guitarist who uses a variety of tones and styles to create just the right mood. Over the years he has played in many different bands performing all types of music. From laid-back acoustic ballads and jazz to full-on driving rock, he delivers exactly what's needed to complement the band's diverse repertoire.
As well as electric guitar Steve also plays acoustic guitar and violin- all played at sensible volumes and with a heavy dose of heart and soul. Outside the band Steve has had a successful Army career, rising to the giddy heights of Major, and now holds a senior management position for a major plc. His first love, however, remains his music and delivering the riffs for Evening Star.
